Over the next ten years two million new teachers are projected to enter our school systems. Administrators, staff developers, teacher educators, and the new teachers themselves all need to be prepared to meet the challenge this presents.
In this video Linda Darling-Hammond, Professor of Education at Stanford University, argues for a comprehensive staff development program for the new teaching staff as well as for collaborative partnerships between higher education and the K-12 schools to ensure the effectiveness of classroom instruction.
Author of A License to Teach, Professional Development Schools, and The Right to Learn, Ms Darling-Hammond presents her research and experiences and helps identify practical ways for this challenge to be met.
